PE Badminton Reflection

In this unit, we learned and practiced badminton. We first learned the forehand serves and the backhand serves. Then we learned long shots and the drop shot. We also did both singles and doubles in the unit. To practice, we went through King Of the Court, we played against higher skilled people and challenged ourselves to improve.

One thing I am good at is playing badminton well, being able to do all kinds of shots ,either long or short. I can also play both the forehand serve and the backhand serve really well. One thing I could improve on is communicating with my teammates while playing doubles, because sometimes we don’t know who could catch which ball, so I believe we should communicate more.

Art Sketchbook Cover Design

In this project, we started designing our own sketchbook. We planned first in the first page of our sketch book. My first idea was to incorporate all kinds of shapes with things I like to represent me. In my planning page, honestly, I drew anything that came in mind when I thought of myself. I threw a lot of ideas down, but when we started the cover, I am not sure how I would actually design it. Then I started with putting things l like, for example skiing and the animal wolf down in random spaces. Then, I started putting those bubbles/circles down in different colors that represented my feelings, there is many colors because I am a person that emotions change very fast. When I was drawing the first circle, I realized I could split the page into warm colors and cold colors, so I did that. Then, for the paper I sticked, and the tape with the “Privacy words”, I actually didn’t thought of that first. I got the idea from the internet, seeing how other people used the ideas of collage in their sketchbook, so I thought, I could incorporate drawings with paper. I chose the tape with words, just because I thought it was fun and interesting.

SS Visual Presentation

In this project, our task was to create a visual presentation presenting your research on your technology in any way you want. I chose the to create a crime investigation board that presented the benefits, negatives, and how the government solved the problem. Including graphics, photos, post-it notes, and red lines that connected the parts.

One thing I believe I did well on this project is choosing a way not nobody else did for presenting my learning. I have clear research and included the most important parts to put, so my audience won’t be bored, seeing too many paragraphs of words.

One thing I could improve on is maybe creating the physical investigation board neater and clearer. Maybe making it look better so it can catch attention of the audience.

Social Studies Unit 2: Essay

At the beginning or first step of writing the essay, we have to first research a lot of information from different websites. Then we had to put that into the organizer Mr.Tyner gave us to help us organize our notes. After we believe we have enough research, we start writing the 3 body paragraphs for the positive, negative, and the solutions using the example in Schoology. And finally, we write the beginning and the conclusion for the essay, and highlight the claim, reasoning, and evidence for the teacher to review our essay easier.

One thing I did well in my essay is making sure that each of my body paragraphs have a similar amount in all claim, reasoning, and evidence. So there wouldn’t be one that has less information. I also improved on my reasoning in this essay, I could explain in detail and show how my evidence support my claim.

One thing I need to improve on is making my hook/beginning and my conclusion more fun or catching for the reader to read. It is good, but I think it could be better. And I could change it to make it not similar or repetitive.

Unit 3 Proportionality and Percentages

U- What do you understand about the topic?

In this unit, I feel confident in remembering the equations and how to use them to find the answer in all kinds of scenarios. I can correctly identify what equations to use and explain why I got my answer. I can also model out the problem in tape diagrams and number lines.

N- What new information do you have?

In this unit, we learned how to calculate percentages. EX: (New-old)/old=%/100 or Change/old=%/100, Simple Interest: SI = principle*rate*time, Part/Whole=%/100

I- What is interesting about the unit?

I believe something that was interesting or important is when we did the real life situations. For example, we have a lot situations during real life, discount calculation, restaurant tips + taxes, also banking. We could meet those problems in real life, and by learning about percentages we can use it.

T- What was tricky for you?

I believe something that is tricky for me is, correctly understanding all kinds of word problems. Because there might be problems that is really confusing, so sometimes I don’t understand what it is asking for me to solve. I could try to practice more problems like this on IXL, so I could better understand.

ELA – Me as a Collaborator

How would you rate yourself as a collaborator?

Exceeding

I believe I am quite a good collaborator overall. I share ideas constantly during discussions. I also listen to others/classmates when they are sharing, I quietly agree or respectfully disagree when I hear ideas I relate to.

My classmates and friends could describe me as a person who have good speaking skills and is good at expressing her ideas in her own words.

ELA U2 Summative

How do you think your summative are compared to your formative?

I believe I did much better on my summative than on my formative, I think mostly because I learned more and practiced more after my formative. I also got more experience from my formative, so I know how and what to write on the CERER during my summative.

What are you proud of?

I am proud that I didn’t make any mistakes during the summative assessment, and improved my score from the formative. Because I didn’t get a very good score on the formative, I practiced more, which led me get a better score for summative.

What are some challenges for you?

Well, I believe one challenge for me in this unit at first is, writing a mirror and a window for the story relating to me. I kind of got confused between the difference of writing a connection to the world or to me. Now I understood and can write both for the mirror and window.

How effectively have you used your feedback?

It is very helpful for me to improve, it helped me learn now only what did I do wrong, but also what parts to improve so I could get a better score.

If you could redo your summative assessment, what would you do differently?

If I could redo my assessment, I would review on the punctuation mistakes to make sure I don’t make any of these.

What advice would you give yourself for Unit 3?

I would definitely remind myself to review everything we learned before an assessment to make sure I got these information got stuck in my head.

One goal I set for myself is to get a full score for everything in Unit 3, also trying to work with different partners when doing projects.

7th Grade Orchestra Chamber Music

In the Chamber Music Unit, we chose between creating your own piece of music or performing a piece of music in groups of 2-4. Me, Qiqi, and Lucy chose to perform a piece. We chose the piece “Over the Rainbow” by Harold Arlen. We separated the parts and practiced multiple times to make sure we can go through the whole piece.

Unit 2 Cell Blind Box Reflection

The essential question I chose is, “How do our body systems work together when we play our favorite sport?” By learning about all different kinds of cells in the plant and the animal cell, I learned how they function to help us play our favorite sport. This relate because there are all kinds of sub-systems that create us, a system.

The most memorable and impactful for me is when we did the dissections of the pig’s heart, lungs and the bullfrog. It is really fun, I did a dissection of a sea urchin and a small shark before, and this experience taught me more about the inside of animals. I believe I am a skillful communicator because I can talk and share my ideas to my partner and classmates and discuss on learning. Another experience I really liked is when we did the editable cell jelly thing, using candy to help us remember is a really good idea. I remembered the shape and size of different cells by using candies to model it.

If I could improve one aspect of my learning in this unit as whole, it would be researching more and being more specific/detailed in my model.

Health End of the Unit Reflection

The DECIDE model is especially helpful in providing clear structure for organizing, reducing anxiety, and leading to better outcomes/solutions by breaking down complex choices into manageable tasks. It includes understanding the problem to implementing and deciding the solution. It can help us not only when facing peer pressure, but in every difficult situation. After lesson 38, I learned many outcomes and impact of different of different substances shown in my notes below.
