Art Portrait Portfolio

  • Audience Insight: What key message do you want your audience to understand about you as they view your artwork? How did you communicate this message?

I want to let the audience understand that music is pleasing and drinks are a fun way to relax. I put stars as if they are my dreams and my thoughts, which shows that trying hard is the key to achieve. The small pieces of paper behind meant the negative feelings that you might face, but we should just forget it and keep going.

  • Risk and Experimentation: During the creation of your artwork, how did you take risks and experiment in order to effectively express your intended message?

I tried to put the elements in a variety of different places so it can match my portrait, I tried it different times to make it the most pleasing looking. Also, one little detail is my glasses. I thought my glasses are not visible enough, so added blue glitter glue to make it more obvious which I believe is quite creative. It also make the portrait stand out more.

Socratic Seminar Reflection

I picked this section from my reflection because it shows my reflection of the discussion. Even though I didn’t do well during the Socratic Seminar, I think my reflection can still demonstrate my thinking of growth. I identified the parts I need to improve on next time especially to build on and think deeper during my part of the discussion.

Swimming & Outdoor Invasion Games

During swimming class, we did water polo. I improved at floating on the water with my head up while swimming so I am able to pass the ball in the game. We’ve took off our swimming goggles which was first kind of difficult for me as I struggle. I learned that during water polo, we need to raise one hand up to pass and get the ball.

For outdoor invasion games, we did soccer. I improved at passing the ball and standing at the point where my teammates can pass me the ball avoiding our opponents. I learned that during these kind of games, we need to stand at an open space so there won’t be people defending us.

Science Reflection

My current goal is to improve my ability to be an effective and reflective active learner. When I have questions, I should ask the teacher directly and reflect on my own problems. I think I made progress on this since I ask helpful questions and reflect on my learning which improves a lot. I think later, I need to work more on reflect the information learned the class before so I can get better at the 3 for 3.

What are you most proud of in this class so far?

I am proud of my Meteor Model because I worked very carefully and made my presentation engaging with animations that gives clear explanations and details.

What has been your biggest challenge in this class?

I think my biggest challenge in this class is to maintain a 3 for all my 3 for 3s because I sometimes get a question wrong and it does not look good in my grade book. Therefore, I need to reflect on my learning more often.

How have you demonstrated the qualities of an Active Learner — preparing effectively, participating fully, collaborating well, staying positive, and reflecting to improve? Are there any areas where you want to grow or improve next quarter?

I demonstrated qualities of active learner by staying positive even though I faced challenged and get confused. I also participated in group works and collaborated well.

Kool Koor Reflection

1. Cultural Influence on Aesthetic Choices

His graffiti background trained him to create with bold, flowing lines, which is why the outlines in his art are so strong and rhythmic. His style naturally blends recognizable images with abstract patterns which is caused by his experience in graffiti art.

2. Environmental Impact on Art Creation

The fast, single-stroke lines that grasp strong and attractive attentions from audiences are shown on his graffiti on a public wall. The complex, overlapping shapes showing the careful planning was made in a calm studio. Therefore, as the environment changes, Kool Koor transformed the bold energy of the street into a detailed composition on canvas.

3. Personal Reflection on Aesthetic Development

What aspects of your culture or environment do you think will influence your future artistic choices for your self-portrait mixed media artwork? How can you incorporate elements from your own background into your artwork to express your unique identity?

The environment will influence my art through the contrast between natural textures and the different atmospheres. Also, different cultures that you live in are shown in different types of art since you usually have more experience in one. I can use simple smooth lines and textures to show my calmness. If I feel really energetic and loud, I can use textures that are pointy and big bold colors.

Unit 1 Reflection and Goal Setting

Select two questions from the Unit 1 Celebration of Learning that reflect your best thinking in this unit:

1.    I chose question 8)b. as evidence of my best thinking because I explained the triangle imposter using mathematical language like congruent and Side-Angle-Side. I used evidence and reasoning to prove why the specific triangle is not congruent as others.

2.    I chose question 7) as evidence of my best thinking in the triangle congruence problem because I justified the congruency of the 2 triangles using alternate interior angles and Angle-Angle-Side that I don’t really handle well on before. I justified it clearly using evidence from the image.

Complete each of these sentences.

3.    Throughout this unit, I improved the most at justifying congruency using clear evidence, reasoning, and descriptions.

4.    I feel that I still need to work on dilations because sometimes I still get confused and not careful enough so I get the answer wrong.

5.    List three of your strengths so far this year.

Triangle Congruency

Rigid Transformations

Triangle Theorem

6.    List three things you want to improve on in the next unit.

Justification and Reasoning

Dilations

Extensions

 7.    Create an academic goal by completing the sentences and answering the questions.

In the next unit, I want to challenge myself more by try and do more of the extensions. For the unit one “Celebration of Understanding”, I tried both of the extensions, but didn’t got it finished.

What might get in the way of this goal?

Try harder since I sometimes give up because I don’t know how to do the questions.

What can I do if I get stuck or need help?

I can ask the teacher or look at my notes as reference.

Create a second post for your sticker project. Upload a picture of your final sticker image (and a copy of your blueprint if you have it). Share what you liked about this project and what you wish was different.

Something I like about this project is that we can create our own blueprint, so we have a lot of space for our own creativity. Something I wish that is different is to have some support like Flint AI that we used in other subjects that already has a prompt and we can ask it questions to plan our project out. Then, we can understand the instructions clearer and more efficient.

Orchestra Portfolio

We did new pieces like Overture and Carol of the Bells, I think I did well on catching the right rhythms and playing the correct notes even in ones with a lot of sharps. Something I think I should still improve when playing with others is to watch the instructor (Ms.Ziegler) because I can be in the right beat.

ELA Unit 1: First Contact

During this unit, we learned grammar by teaching an alien (AI bot) how to speak english and did an interview with the teacher mainly in three sections to demonstrate our understandings about the use of english. I learned that the use of language is significant in communication especially writing because it can create different moods and feelings (denotation and connotation)for readers. I believe I improved the most in sentence structures since while teaching this to my alien, I also learned more about simple, compound, and complex sentences especially how and when to use them, which can be shown in the alien paragraph below. Something I think I can improve on is to identify the weaknesses in my alien’s paragraph during the interview with the teacher since I only stated how Naru accomplished the three sections.

Art Museum Portfolio

My experience is quite good in the museum. I really like the atmosphere of the museum which makes me feel very calm and peaceful. The curator made it like that by making the room very dark with only some lights showing the paintings. The room is very quiet with the dark blue boards that has the paintings attached to it. The layout of the rooms are also quite interesting, especially the three installations by El Anatsui. Those pieces are all very huge made with recycle materials like bottle caps. Since it’s massive, we can’t just see one side of the installation. Therefore, there are different perspectives in the museum so we can observe it at different sides and angles. We are able to stand on the ground and look above, look from small windows, and see from upstairs. However, the manager doesn’t let us draw the paintings in the rooms which makes me feel kind of fustrated.

The intentions of the curators is to show artistic developments of both historical and social perspectives. There is also a wall with paintings placed parallel to each other, I think it is quite interesting since it looks like a timeline from the past to the recents and modern works. I believe it shows the evolution of diverse artistic ideas and creative methods during this period. That is why I can see different types of paintings and sculptures, that appear in different time in history showing unique cultural perspectives.

PE Unit 1: Table Tennis Reflection

I think I did well on the serving because I tried what the teacher taught us and made the ball over the net.

Something I didn’t do very well is to trying to do the spinning for my ball. I understood what the teacher said, but when I really tried it, I didn’t really do the spinning for the ball.

My goal is to be better at table tennis by being more focused getting the ball over the net without going out of the border.
