L2: WOOP 2 Reflection

For my WOOP goal on healthy relationships, I selected the statement “I am satisfied with the amount of time I spend with the important people in my life.” I wish to spend more quality time with friends and family to deepen our relationships. Since these relationships are important to my emotional health, I frequently find myself wishing I could give them more priority. By spending quality time with them, I connect with them more deeply and build stronger, more enduring relationships. Furthermore, these relationships enhances my general well-being and mental health, so it’s a crucial area of my life that I wish to enhance.

One example of me spending more time with important people in my life was when I chose to skip eating out after class and instead rushed home for family dinner. By making this small but intentional decision, I was able to spend quality time with my family; laughing, sharing stories, and strengthening our bond.

One obstacle is that I often procrastinate doing my schoolwork. When I procrastinate, I don’t get my work done on time, which means I end up having to rush later. Because of this, I waste time that I could’ve spent with friends and family. Instead of hanging out with the people I care about, I’m stuck catching up on assignments, leaving me with less time for socializing. To overcome this, I implemented better time-management strategies, such as setting specific study hours or breaking tasks into smaller steps, so I can stay on top of my workload and free up time for people important to me.

Reflecting on the past week, I noticed two significant benefits from my efforts to prioritize time with friends and family. Not only did I feel more connected to the important people in my life, but I also experienced reduced stress levels. By completing my homework assignments ahead of schedule rather than procrastinating, I created valuable free time that could be spent meaningfully with family and friends. Without last-minute academic pressure weighing on me, I felt lighter, more present, and truly able to enjoy these moments.

SLC PE

In PE, I was introduced to pickleball, a sport I had never tried before. At first, I was unsure about the rules and techniques, but as I started playing, I quickly grew to enjoy the fast-paced and strategic nature of the game. Over time, I practiced regularly, improved my hand-eye coordination, and learned to anticipate my opponents’ moves. My skills progressed significantly, and I began to appreciate the fun and competitive aspects of pickleball, making it one of my favorite activities in PE.

I’ve always enjoyed playing basketball, and it’s been one of my favorite parts of PE. The fast-paced action, teamwork, and excitement of the game have always brought me a lot of joy. Whether it’s shooting hoops, dribbling past defenders, or making a great pass, I’ve had so much fun playing with my classmates. Basketball has not only kept me active but also taught me the value of communication and perseverance.

LA Artifact

For this artifact I engaged in moral dilemmas by analyzing and reflecting on short stories, which deepened my understanding of ethical complexities and human behavior. This process not only enhanced my critical thinking but also significantly improved my writing skills.

L4 Health Wellness App Review

Part 1

App: Offscreen

Offscreen is an app with simple features to help users avoid distractions from electronics. Some of its features include controlling screen time, and sending reminders.

Offscreen supports my WOOP Goal, because its features such as limiting screen time forces me to step away from my phone. This can reduce my dependency on electronics, benefiting my brain and body health by encouraging me to participate in activities beyond my phone, such as sports and completing homework.

The app uses an human design. Offscreen is designed to prevent addiction on electronics, and its straightforward features help achieve this goal. The app adds value to my life, since it assists me in avoiding distractions from my phone. Through roughly ten days of experience, my average screen time decreased by three hours. Thus, one major long-term effect is that I would be spending less time on my phone.

Part 2

Math Rates & Ratio Reflection

  1. What math did you use for this project?

We used our knowledge on rates and ratios.

2.If you could re-do this project, what changes would you make during your timed trials to help your prediction for the final race?

We would walk at normal pace instead of moving really slowly, so that it’s easier for us and more easy to predict. (the speed)

3.What units of measure did you use during your timed trials? How important were units in your process? What happened to groups that didn’t include units on their paper?

We included centimeter but it definitely wasn’t a good idea.
