Mental Health Reflection

Looking back on our presentation there were a few flaws. Such as some “stereotypes” people would call it when they were clearly myths even if the teacher interrupted us. Link and I worked on the presentation and researched on how Bipolar Disorder a misunderstood disorder that the media portay’s them as a mad people or insane, or attention seeking, signs f person that has Bipolar disorder experiences mood swings.

Other things that I learned from others.

What I learned from other presentations is that the eating disorder is a very dangerous disorder that makes people eat less or vomit, people with eating disorder look skinny or swollen cheeks.

Another one thing I learned in a different presentation is that PTSD are mostly caused by traumatic events such as witnessing death in military or other things. And it uncommon for people that are in the military.

Health Reflection

Understanding Stress and Its Impact

We studied how stress triggers the amygdala, leading to heightened emotional responses. When activated too frequently, this part of the brain can cause the body to override into a state of panic.

Responses to Conflict: FFF Model

People cope with small arguments through different responses encapsulated in the flight, fight, freeze (FFF) model. This framework illustrates how individuals react to conflict in various ways, influencing their emotional state and relationships.

Healthy Coping Mechanisms

We learned how to manage stress effectively; various coping strategies can be employed. Engaging in outdoor activities, listening to music, and making mindful food choices are all beneficial for mental well-being.

Practical Stress Relief Techniques

The class presented how incorporating healthy habits such as spending time outdoors, enjoying music, and focusing on nutrition can significantly alleviate stress and improve overall brain health.

My Student-Led Conference 2025

Vision board

My vision board consists of self-improvement that will help me over time.

less screen time.

Eating more healthy foods.

And manage time, Wisley.

Transdisciplinary Transfer Goals (TTG)

The TTG I chose is becoming a creative learner, I will demonstrate by using flexible thinking

Chinese

(Unfortunately, I dont have any further records on my active learner grade)

I chose this artwork because it was the first assignment I had to do in Chinese class, and I was very proud of my artwork.

Math

This is my transformation assessment from math. I got a 1.5/4; in order to improve on my tests, I should have read the questions more correctly and asked how I could improve so I do not make the mistake of skimming through the questions.

Social Studies

I effectively gathered and organized evidence to answer the inquiry question, but I need to submit the missing API components and arrange a meeting with the teacher for resubmission by October 9 if I scored below 3.

This is another of my social studies artifact where, although I did badly on one of the assignments, I still learned alot about world war 1.

Language Arts

The artifact is my best artifact yet. I showed persistence and showed that I could control my time. Before I started, everyone was ahead of me at the start When people were at phase 2, I was still at phase 1, and I got sick at the time delaying my work time, but I continued to work even at home so i could catch up with the others and I did but I still wanted.

This artifact was one of my reading passport checks where I had to find information on the author of the book I was reading about and where or what inspired her to write the book. The author is Suzanne Collins and the book I was reading was the hunger games which was the first book I read during the start of grade 8.

Science

This is my science work on the unit of weather and climate, where we had to pick a country and find the weather and climate of that place. The place I got to pick was Burgos, Spain. As shown in the document, it tells you all the details on its weather and its climate. The reason why I picked this artifact is because I put in some work into it, the other reason why I picked this artifact is also that I learned the geography of Burgos and other interesting facts.

The reason why I chose this artifact to be as my artifact for my student-led conference is because the class had to record

During the first semester, I was able to complete most of my tasks and could keep up with the rest of the class, and was doing well during the start of the second semester. Then over time I started to see more and more overdue assignments missing.

1st Semester of Science

2nd Semester Science

P.E

So I don’t have any artifacts for P.E except for my active learner and some feedback. Mr. Jovan has told me that I showed excellent passing and dribbling of the ball in the football unit. ( I know, not very believable.)

Passion Project

For my passion project I chose to bake pan au chocolat because I loved those chocolate pastries and decided to make them myself.

Phase 1

So for phase 1 of creating my pans au chocolat, I had to create the dough and make the dough rise for 90 minutes. When I let it rise, I am flattening a whole block butter and let it solidify in the fridge for 20 minute.

Phase 2

For phase 2, it was a little bit more difficult, where I had to stretch the dough that would be bigger than the cutting board and add the frozen flat butter on the flat already stretched-out dough. The next part was more difficult because for every minute the butter was out of the fridge, it would start to melt so I quickly folded the dough like a book and put it back in the fridge for another 20 minutes.

Phase 3

For the final stage I had to cut the ends of the dough because it would not look great for pans au chocolat, then I started to use a serrated knife to cut some chocolate bars into pieces. After that, I rolled the chocolate pieces with the dough and refrigerated them overnight. The next day I had to bring my pan au chocolat with me at school and planned to refrigerate them one more time before I let them rise again.

After drenching my pan au chocolat in egg wash, I started to bake them for 16 minutes, and the final result was amazing.

Conclusion

Overall, I think that I have shown or even demonstrated being a creative learner by becoming flexible and finding new ways to get through obstacles. Even if I’m not a perfect student and turned in assignments late, I believe that I can still improve on myself and be more flexible with assignments and other things.

Thank you.

My box for my board games

This is my box for my game designs including my plan sheet, my 3d boats and infantry ( soldiers , the box is made from cardboard so we can reuse it for future purposes. We used hot glue, and cutting knifes to build the box. first we outline  both sides bottom and top, then we create dot lines so it will be easier to fold, then we cut the lines we traced then we fold them and hot glue them sides.

My progress so far

🤘🏻. This is my progress so far by designing my battleship ( 3d ).

After this unit, my game will look amazing, but i need to work more to achieve that goal. Cant wait to show my final product after.🤠

My inskape snowflake

This is my Inkscape snowflake that I made because for Design Tech.  We are doing laser cutting, and  our project is to make a snowflake. These are some examples that I made in Inkscape.

Welcome to Your New Portfolio!

Why have a digital portfolio at SAS?

Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work you’ve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS.  When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:

  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
  • Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram

Click on the images below to find a few helpful tips for creating your posts, adding media, and making categories:
