Introduction
The purpose of my conference is to share my growth this year, as an 8th grade student. I will explain what did I improve on from last year and what has happened this learning journey.
I’d like to share:
- What I’ve done and what I still want to achieve
- Some areas of growth, struggles, and some of my work
- My goals and how I plan to achieve them
My Vision Board

Some of the things included on my vision board are:
- My grades; I hope to improve on my learning.
- Reading; I want to read more books
- Tennis; I will play more tennis
- Sleep; I will get more sleep
- Chess; I will improve in chess
- Learning (languages); I hope to improve in my european languages
These are important because:
My Goals Are:
1. I want to find and explore a topic I can invest my future into.
2. I want to use my time better as in doing my most important work before chilling.
3. I want to learn something new every day.
Here is evidence of how I was able to start to make progress towards my goals.
Transdisciplinary Transfer Goal (TTG)
The TTG I chose to reflect upon throughout the year is Creative Learner.
Core Subject: Math 🧮
I will now share my progress in Math… Artifacts
Strengths
- Algebra
- Calculation
- Finding patterns
Areas of Growth
- Understanding word problems and context
- Understanding concepts more thoroughly, e.g. reviewing new ideas more often
- Geometry
Core Subject: Science 🧪
I will now share my progress in Science…
Evidence of Organization:

My science notebook became more useful as the school year continued, as I took more care to add details and clarity to my work.
Evidence of Active Learner Habits:
My grades have improved as 8th grade science class went on, but still with much room for improvement.
Evidence of Understanding of Key Concepts:

My understanding of key concepts in 8th grade have been solid, bar some small errors here and there.
Evidence of Growth in Science Skills:
Standard 1: Developing and using Models
Standard 2: Constructing Explanations and Designing Solutions
Standard 3: Engaging in Argument from Evidence
Standard 4: Asking Questions and Defining Problems
Standard 5: Using Mathematics and Computational Thinking
I will show this in my science notebook:

Standard 6: Obtaining, Evaluating, and Communicating Information
This year in Science class, I have shown a little bit of growth from the beginning to now. Despite not improving as much as I wanted to, it is growth, nonetheless.
Core Subject: Language Arts 📖
I will now share my progress in Language Arts… Artifact 1: Reading and Writing Passport
Artifact 2: Unit 3 (Literary Essay)
At the start of the year, my reading and writing passport revealed some of the many challenges in organization and clarity. Through consistent practice and feedback, I improved my analytical skills, particularly in my literary essay, where I learned to connect themes and support my arguments effectively. Now, I feel much more confident in my writing and reading comprehension, showcasing significant growth in both areas.
Core Subject: Social Studies 🌏
I will now share my progress in Social Studies… Artifact 1… Post WW2 Inquiry to Interest PPT https://portfolios.saschina.org/danny01px2029/2025/02/05/inquiry-to-interest/
Artifact 2…WW1 History Simulation https://portfolios.saschina.org/danny01px2029/2025/01/22/ww1-history-simulation-socials-studies/

EnCore: Health ❤️
Health has been a wonderful semester class this year. Let’s find out what happened in Health… Artifacts
EnCore: Band
I had an amazing time in Band this year. As explained in my band artifacts, I took part in many concerts earlier in the year. This really helped me improve in sight-reading and understanding the melody of the music.
My main strengths lie in my ability to:
- Correctly identify the rhythm and notes in my music
- Understand the techniques to correctly play my music (drumset)
- Learn quickly
For example, I was able to create a piece of music from different melodies and rhythms learned in class. However, something I hope to do more is practice my instrument more, because I understand another concert is coming up and I am not ready yet. Another improvement I could make to my music skills is memorizing all the notes on the treble clef because every time I receive new music, I have to spend lots of time to identify the notes.
EnCore: Design Tech
I will now share my progress in Design Tech this year. Empathize 1 (Artifact 1)
In addition, I have been working hard to finish my tissue box in design technology this year. Here are the sample drawings I created: Ideate 1 (Artifact 2)
This semester in Design Technology, I have improved a lot in my inkscape abilities. This class is extremely technical, so I learned much more about the intricacies of 3D printing and laser-cutting this year.
My Strengths 💪🏻:
Some of my strengths are…
I am good at making good work plans for this class.
I value process. I will almost always understand and complete tasks as wanted by Mr. Hatt.
I value deadlines. I will almost certainly submit my projects on time.
Being able to keep multiple ideas in my head. This helps me brainstorm very well in class.
Areas of Growth:
I am not great at identifying what is a priority. I have to be careful especially about the artifact drawings. These took much longer than I expected and caused me to lose time overall.
I am not very efficient, I often lag behind and have to finish the process journal or inkscape work at home, when it is often expected to be finished in class.
EnCore: Español 🇪🇸
I will now share my progress in spanish class this year
Spanish class has been quite exciting this year. From learning about the environment to now cooking, I am happy for how things have turned out. This year, there were also a lot of reviewing of last year, which really helps with the amount of new vocab and conjugation we are learning.
Passion Project 4.0
This year in 8th Grade, I took part in the wonderful passion project event. Let’s take a look at what I did… PP 4.0
Highlights of the year:
My favourite moment this year in school was the spring trip we went to the bund because I had so much fun and it was such a nice, relaxing, fun day. In the trip, we even played laser tag and I aced it.
