making ice cream

i chose milk and milk is a liquid when we started off then when we added salt and ice and removing thermal energy the particles got closer and went slower. milk started go slower when we added ice because there was not thermal energy so it had less kenetic energy which is why it also went closer.

African penguin project 2

The African penguins are going endangered because people keep taking their guano. so my partner and I made an artificial penguin nest called the Pengloo slogan I’m calling it. it cost 85 dollars and it weighed 12.1 grams but after we tested it with heat it weighed 7.9 so the change in mass is 4.2. the materials of the nest are foam, wood, cotton and aluminum foil. the reason why we created the nest is so we could stop the African penguin from going extinct by providing them with new nest.7.

Owen and I chose these materials wood, foam, cotton and aluminum because we found that these were one of the best insulators so we used wood for insulation cotton for keeping the nest soft for the eggs aluminum for insulation and foam for insulation and structure.

penguin nest

this is our artificial penguin nest it’s called pengloo. they are endangered because humans are taking their guano. what we are doing to help their population grow and protect them is making a nest for them. the scientific concepts I had to understand to build the nest is to make sure to build with he best insulators.

Endangered species

my endangered species was the koala I chose it because it was my favorite animal and  knew there were many threats to koalas. I also learned that many koalas are only eating leaves and  not drinking water because the water they need is in the leaves. I also learned  ways to prevent the species from going extinct.  ways to prevent the species from going extinct.

Welcome to Your New Portfolio!

Why have a digital portfolio at SAS?

Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work you’ve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS.  When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:

  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
  • Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram
