Studying more the night before the test.

Part 2: Goal Reflection & End-of-Semester Check-In

A. Looking Back at Your Last Goal

Last unit, you set this goal: To get better grades

  1. How well did you work toward this goal?
☐ Very well X Somewhat ☐ I struggled with this
  1. What helped you make progress toward this goal?

Studying before the test

  1. What got in the way of this goal (if anything)?

After school actives, I have swimming training everyday so i would study after swimming which is late at night and i cant really stay up that late so i dont really study for a long time.

B. End-of-Semester Self Reflection

  1. List three strengths you have shown last semester:

Solving formulas, the story, sticker project

  1. List three areas you still want to improve:

Studying, creating formulas, getting 3s.

C. New Academic Goal Moving Forward

Complete all parts:

  1. In the next unit I want to…

Focus more on the parts that Im not that confident about and checking my work to make sure I did everything and got it correct.

  1. What might get in the way of this goal?

By study more of the things that I need to work on.

  1. What will I do if I get stuck or need help?

By talking to adult or the math teacher and ask for help.

Designing a Story Problem (Piecewise Function Project)

Our story was about this girl called Lamara, her parents didn’t her use their American Express black card and cut her allowance to $1000 for Lululemon and $500 for sephora. So she started doing social media to earn money, but she got caught spending the money instead of donating it to the African penguins. So, in the line graph that we made we showed her expenses and how much she made. I am most proud of creating the story. The hardest part of creating the piecewise function was doing all the calculations. We had to redo the calculations so many time because we sometimes had to change the graph and there were also different was to look and understand the graph so we were a bit confused. If I could change one thing, maybe we could make the question and the story clearer so it would be easier to understand and easier to create the graph. This project really helped me understand and practice calculating the slopes in different ways.

Mixed Media Self-Portrait

I want my artwork to show my personality, identity and interests. I used sea shells to express my love for the ocean. The colors pink and gold represent warmth and happiness. I want my audience to feel joy and a connection to my work.

During the creation of my artwork, I took used new materials to make symbols, I incorporated elements like sea shells and strawberries i to add depth and interest. This helped me express my personality and effectively communicated my intended message.

Robotics

In the robotics we got paired up with a partner and we had 3 part to this unit, controller, wall racer, and stacking challenge. For the controller part of the unit, we had to add gear to our robot so it could have the fastest time to go around the classroom. For the wall racer part of the unit we had to create a code so the robot would go the wall and once it touches the wall it has to come back to the starting line. Lastly for the stacking challenge, we had to rebuild the whole robot to how it was in the beginning and then build a claw for the robot so it could pick up the blocks and stack them. For the wall racer I think I could work on the coding better, because our robot kept on spinning in circles instead of going straight.

The Box

In this unit we designed a tissue box according to the the design movements that we got assigned too. The tissue boxes we design will not only be functional but also serve as a canvas to express creativity and raise awareness about the importance of hygiene. Something I need to improve on for the next time is my ink scape skills. When I had to make the design on ink scape, it took a lot of classes to finish making my design on ink scape. And also making more interact skills.

Outdoor Invasion Games

In this unit i learned a lot about catching and throwing, i also learned lots of football skills like dribbling the ball, passing, and shooting. In this unit I found out that I was good at taking the ball from other people in football. I really enjoyed the playing football, i really like the collaboration and the skills we learned.

Aquatics Unit

In the unit of water polo, we learned about treading water, dribbling the ball, and and passing the ball. I found myself being good at getting the ball, swimming nearer to the goal and then shooting. I really enjoyed this unit, it was very fun to be in the pool playing the water polo games and collaborating with team mates.

Kool Koor Reflection

Kool Koor’s background in graffiti really changed how he makes art. He uses bold lines and exciting designs that show a lot of energy. Working with street art pushed him to try new things because he had to use simple materials. This mix of wild ideas and careful techniques helped him grow as an artist.

When Kool Koor moved from creating street art to working in a studio, it showed how different places can change an artist’s creativity. Street art is all about being spontaneous and full of energy, while studio work lets him plan things out more carefully. His painting style might show the freedom of street art with bright colors and quick strokes, but the studio gives him the chance to focus on details and explore deeper ideas. This mix helps him combine raw creativity with more polished artistry.

Kool Koor’s culture and personal experiences will play a big role in his self-portrait mixed media artwork. He wants to include cultural symbols, colors that mean something to him, and materials that tell his story. By putting these elements together, Kool Koor hopes to create a piece that not only shows who he is but also connects with the stories of his community, highlighting the richness of his experiences and heritage.

Culture and environment will influence my artwork because I will incorporate symbols that represent who I am. My culture and environment have shaped who I have become.

Semester 1 Active Learner Reflection

Current Goal: Get 3s for my 3 for 3s.

I should review more at home, and study what we learned in class to make sure I understand the concepts. I have been to Mr.Tafel to review my 3 for 3 so I can understand what I did wrong and how to improve.

What are you most proud of in this class so far?
(Think about times when you showed persistence, improvement, collaboration, or deep understanding.)

Finishing projects and understanding concepts.

What has been your biggest challenge in this class?
(For example: managing time, staying focused, contributing in group work, or understanding a concept.)

Staying focused in class, sometimes I get distracted by my friends in class. But I have been working on that, and to focus on what I am doing and not be bothered by what is happening around me.

How have you demonstrated the qualities of an Active Learner — preparing effectively, participating fully, collaborating well, staying positive, and reflecting to improve? Are there any areas where you want to grow or improve next quarter?

I can review what we learned at home so I understand the concepts more

Unit 1 Reflection and Goal Setting

Unit 1 reflection:

  1.  I chose question 2 ( its the question where you have to find the center of dilation ) as evidence of my best thinking because I was able to calculate and solve which point on the graph is the center.
  2.  I chose question 5 ( where we need to identify one piece of evidence to show that the 2 triangles are congruent ) as evidence of my best thinking because I was able to tell the difference of ASA, SSS, AAS, ASA and I was also able to identify the part of the triangle that was ASA, SSS, AAS, or ASA.
  3. Throughout this unit, I improved the most at dilating and using ASA, SSS, AAS, and ASA.
  4. I feel that I still need to work on I still need to work is finding out if a triangle is congruent or not.
  5. List three of your strengths so far this year: Finding coordinates, graphing shapes, reflection dilation and translation.
  6. List three things you want to improve on in the next unit: finding out if a triangle is congruent to another triangle, congruence statements, and describing the transformations.
  7. In the next unit, I want to have a better understanding of the unit, and also get better test scores. I can practice more at home, and find Ms.Fisher if I need help.

Sticker Project:

I really enjoyed this unit, I learned a lot and it was very fun designing the sticker. I wish I chose a harder sticker to make.
