Introduction For the past two weeks, my WOOP goal was: “I can recognize when a relationship is unhealthy and end it if I need to.” I picked this goal because I’ve been in bad friendships before that made me feel upset or stressed. I wanted to get better at noticing these relationships early and walking away before they hurt me more.
What I Did To reach my goal, I wrote in my journal every night about the people in my life and how they made me feel. If I noticed a friendship was negative or draining, I slowly talked to that person less instead of making a big fight. For example, I had one friend who always made me feel bad about myself, so I stopped reaching out as much. It was hard, but it helped me feel better.
Challenges The hardest part was finding the courage to actually end a relationship. I was scared of making things awkward or hurting someone’s feelings. I also missed a few days of journaling, but I didn’t let that stop me. Another struggle was figuring out how to end things—should I tell them directly or just fade away? In the end, I chose what felt safest for me.
Conclusion Even though it was tough, I’m proud of myself for taking this step. Ending bad relationships is important for my happiness, and now I feel more confident doing it. I’ll keep working on this goal to make sure I only keep positive people in my life.
Before learning in this unit, I was highly influenced by many stigmatizations made by people and media before actually learning the disease. For example, when researching eating disorder, though I wasn’t knowledgable with the disease, I made assumptions prior that were eventually debunked and were just my stereotypes on those people. Therefore, I’ve realized how media and tech could have a serious impact on mental health illnesses. In the research, we went through a lot about eating disorder, starting from its basic like its definition, symptoms, characteristics, variations, diagnosis, daily life, and myths to deeper aspects like its stigmatization, how to prevent its stigmatization, protective factors, media, and much more. From these multiple perspectives, we were able to thoroughly understand the disease that we chose from the start of the unit. Something that I found quite consequential was that the disease that we chose had a high relationship with the information that we were learning, such as highlight reels, body image, and social media.
Lessons 13-21
From the unit, we also learned the tech, its influence on the brain, reward center in our brain, instant gratification, and, finally, how to prevent. I used to think that eating disorder, which is one of the diseases that are highly influenced by social media could be easily curable and diagnosed, but after looking at other real life examples, and I found out that it was far more severe than I’ve presumed.
Instant Gratification is… the immediate fulfillment of a person’s needs or desires. When someone makes an impulsive choice to do something for the instant feeling of pleasure or satisfaction, they are receiving instant gratification.
Body Image is… a combination of the thoughts and feelings that you have about your body. Body image may range between positive and negative experiences, and one person may feel at different times positive or negative or a combination of both.
Highlight Reels is… a curated selection of video clips edited on an insight platform. Highlight reels can include multiple video clips from the same feedback session or clips from multiple sessions. Highlight reels are easily searchable and shareable to amplify your organization’s customer insight.
Stigma is… a set of negative and often unfair beliefs that a society or group of people have about something. the stigma associated with mental illness = the stigma of mental illness.
Eating Disorder is… any of a range of mental conditions in which there is a persistent disturbance of eating behavior and impairment of physical or mental health. Eating disorder includes three different variations include anorexia nervosa (a severe and strong fear of gaining weight), bulimia nervosa (causes you to eat large amounts of food at one time and then get rid of it), and binge eating disorder (similar to bulimia nervosa). Many celebrities, including Elton John, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift, all have spoken out about experiencing eating disorder. As Elton John during his peak career, he said that he survived everyday with cocaine and three grapes, which were not due to drug, but the fear of food. In addition, some myths about eating disorder are “Just About Food”, which is false as it’s deeply connected with depression and other mental illnesses, and there’s more like “Eating Disorder is only to young white women” as there’s more variety of people experiencing nowadays. One way to reduce stigmatization and myths is to educate and being aware. Some challenges that people would face are digestive problems, anxiety, and much more. Eating disorder is usually happening to teens 15-25, people with genetics of eating disorder, and athletes & dancers. However, there’s more variety as I’ve said before. Lastly, some data of eating disorder is “death rate 5-10%” and “50% people with Anorexia have depression”

Goals
Evidence:
Transdisciplinary Transfer Goal (TTG)
The TTG I chose to reflect upon throughout the year is CRITICAL THINKER.
Throughout these two artifacts, I’ve demonstrated my growth as a Critical Thinker, particularly in how I evaluate evidence and sources to support arguments and conclusions. At the start of the semester, my CER (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning) was not as strong or robust, as the Reasoning section lacked depth and analysis. The lack of detail weakened the argument and failed to fully bolster my claims. However, in the next L4 CER, I demonstrated significant improvement by providing much more detailed Reasoning to support my argument. I focused on the scientific reasons behind the increase in human population and explored the causality of this increase on multiple Earth systems, such as the biosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere. Each influence was carefully analyzed with sufficient detail, which ultimately strengthened my argument. As a result, I have improved as a Critical Thinker over the course of the year.
These two artifacts show how much I’ve grown as a writer this semester. In my first piece, an opening argument about why gun control should be more restricted, my writing wasn’t as strong as it could have been. The argument lacked detail, and the structure wasn’t clear—I didn’t do a great job showing how each section supported my main point. Looking back, I can see where I could have been more organized and thorough. However, my growth became clear in my next piece, the WWI Impact Analysis. This time, I provided a much deeper analysis, making thoughtful connections between historical events and their impact on literature. I focused on creating a clear structure and ensuring every part of the essay supported my argument. This showed a stronger understanding of the topic and how to present it effectively. Overall, I’m really proud of how much I improved over the semester. I learned how to organize my ideas better, add more depth to my writing, and make stronger connections between my points. It’s been a rewarding journey, and I’m excited to keep building on these skills.
Science Reflection
Evidence of Organization
My science notebook is a well-organized, carefully created artifact of my learning in science class this school year.
This evidence shows how I’ve improved throughout the year as my notes were more organized and detailed. Thus, I would say my organization skills enhanced over time.
My active learner habits are constant and careful, which created artifact of my active learning in science class this school year.
Evidence of Understanding of Key Concepts
The Evidence of Understanding of Key Concepts show how I’ve actively participated in class that I fully understood most of the materials and information.
Evidence of Growth in Science Skills
Before
Later
My skill in Engaging in Argument from Evidence shows how I’ve improved throughout the year as I was more eloquent with using data to construct evidence and using the evidence to write reasoning. However, I think Reasoning + is still an area of growth as I lack ability to explain the details of the science behind.
ELA Reflection
Motivational Speech
Group Public Speaking
During our Public Speaking and Socratics Unit, I started off feeling pretty awkward. My hand gestures and movements didn’t feel natural, and my voice was quiet, slow, and not very engaging. Because of this, my first Motivational Speech didn’t go as well as I’d hoped, even though I had prepared a lot. It was frustrating because I knew I could do better. Afterward, Mr. Fisher gave me some great feedback that helped me see where I needed to improve. He pointed out that I needed to work on sounding more natural and relaxed, speaking louder with confidence, and using cadence, pauses, and tempo to make my speech more dynamic. This advice really stuck with me, and I started practicing these things. Over time, I noticed a big difference. My gestures became more fluid, my voice stronger, and I learned how to use pauses and changes in tone to keep my audience interested. I also felt less tense and more confident when speaking. This unit taught me that public speaking isn’t just about the words—it’s about how you deliver them. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made and excited to keep improving.

Math Reflection
Sticker Design-Initial
Sticker Design-After
In L4: Sticker Design, our task was to create an original and creative logo that also explained the math behind the orientations and transformations we used. At first, I focused more on the artistic side of the project and didn’t pay enough attention to the main purpose—showing the math. Because of this, my explanations were lacking, and I didn’t provide enough evidence that I understood the material. As a result, I earned a 3 on my first attempt. For my second try, I made sure to fix this. I added detailed explanations, especially for concepts like negative dilation, and thoroughly explained the linear relationships in my design. This time, I balanced creativity with clear math explanations, which showed a deeper understanding of the material. I’m proud of how I improved and learned to meet the project’s goals more effectively.
In the process journal, the “empathize” part is where students put themselves in the customers’ shoes to understand what they really need. This means figuring out what kinds of products people want and what features would make those products useful and appealing to them. By learning how to empathize better, I was able to see what common features make successful products stand out.
Empathize-After
After the first unit, I became more carefully analyzed these features and selected the best ones to create my own product. To make my research even stronger, I included both primary and secondary research. This meant looking at products made by others online and also gathering insights from my classmates. In conclusion, my grade improved from a 3 to a 4 as I added more detailed information to my project.
Define
In the “Define” section, students need to present their research in a clear format to the class, teacher, or client. This involves explaining your findings and summarizing how you plan to use this information in your design. Additionally, you should create a detailed list outlining the essential elements your design must include, such as materials, size, dimensions, functions, and processes required for the project. Be sure to specify what success will look like for your design.
During the first two units, my scores didn’t improve; they remained at a 3. I believe my main challenge was effectively showing how I could reference my research and clearly explain its specific application. I want to focus on this area for improvement next time.
Ideate-Before
In the “Ideate” section, we need to brainstorm a wide range of ideas—good, bad, and even crazy—until we feel confident about one or two that align with our specifications. Afterward, we should create a visual plan that anyone can follow, explaining each step to ensure that our design can be produced, even if we are not the ones making it.
Ideate-After
In the second unit, I managed to raise my score from a 3 to a 4. I believe I improved by recognizing the importance of planning, as I created more comprehensive plans this time, complete with specific dates and backup strategies for managing my time effectively. Additionally, I conducted more detailed brainstorming sessions, where I listed all the possible features I could incorporate into my robot.
Prototype
In the “Prototype” section, students must demonstrate their skills using tools, applications, and equipment to complete their projects. This includes finalizing the design and innovating based on tests, new ideas, collaboration, and time constraints. I think I did a good job showcasing my skills in programs like Inkscape, MakerBox, and Fusion 360, as well as my physical abilities in building the robot.
Test
The last section of the process journal is “Test,” where students create methods to evaluate their products and collect data for analysis. This involves understanding how the project has impacted others and making decisions based on feedback and test results for future improvements. Personally, I feel I did a thorough job critically evaluating my work, addressing both the positive and negative aspects. Our group also conducted surveys and created evaluation charts.
Proud of
The tissue box project is what I am most proud of this semester. In this unit, I had to design a laser-cut tissue box that met the specification of Arts and Crafts. We spent significant time on this project, following all the processes outlined in the process journal. Ultimately, the finished product turned out just as I envisioned, from the design to the colors. This achievement is something I take great pride in.
SMART Goal
In semester 2, I aim to improve my skills in the “Define” and “Ideate” sections to boost my scores. I also hope to become more proficient in Fusion 360. In unit 2, we explored this software, and I found its functions fascinating. My goal is to master it so I can create even more interesting products in the future.
PE Reflection
In P.E., my goal was to improve my cardiovascular health by running 5km regularly to build stamina and stay healthy. I chose this goal because I wanted to feel more energized and confident in my physical abilities. To accomplish this, I set a realistic plan by starting with shorter distances and gradually increasing my running time each week. I also scheduled specific days for running to create consistency and tracked my progress using a fitness app. When I felt unmotivated or tired, I reminded myself of the benefits of sticking to my plan, like improved endurance and overall health. By breaking the goal into smaller steps and staying committed, I was able to build my stamina and make running a regular part of my routine.
Health Reflection
In this health semester, I’ve gained valuable knowledge about psychology, stress, and brain health, which has helped me better understand how my mind and body work together. For example, I learned about the fight, flight, or freeze (FFF) response and how it connects to stress and survival instincts. I also explored key parts of the brain, like the amygdala, which processes emotions like fear; the pre-frontal cortex, responsible for decision-making and self-control; and the hippocampus, which plays a role in memory. Additionally, I discovered the WOOP goal-setting method (Wish, Outcome, Obstacle, Plan), which taught me how to set realistic goals and create actionable plans to overcome challenges. These lessons have not only deepened my understanding of mental health but also given me practical tools to manage stress and improve my overall well-being.
My WOOP goal of being more organized with time management and task completion was important to me because I often feel overwhelmed by deadlines and struggle to prioritize effectively. I chose this goal because I want to reduce stress and feel more in control of my responsibilities. One obstacle I face is procrastination, often due to feeling unsure where to start. To tackle this, I plan to break tasks into smaller, manageable steps and use tools like Evernote, an APP I tested for the sake of project or time-blocking to stay on track. By reflecting on key concepts like setting specific intentions and anticipating challenges, I feel more prepared to create a realistic plan and stick to it, even when obstacles arise.
Chinese Reflection
In Chinese class, my initial writing often lacked authenticity and detail, with language that felt basic and unsophisticated. My sentences were straightforward and didn’t convey much emotion, making my work feel flat and unengaging. Over time, I worked on improving by reading more Chinese literature to understand how to use descriptive language and express deeper sentiments. I also practiced incorporating more vivid details and emotional expressions into my writing, focusing on making it more relatable and touching. By paying attention to tone and using more advanced vocabulary, my writing became more engaging and heartfelt. Now, my compositions feel more authentic and moving, with a stronger ability to connect with readers on an emotional level.
Art Reflection
In the first unit of the Art semester, we worked with ceramics and clay to create our own sculptures. I chose to make a bird, but the final result did not meet my expectations. I had envisioned a colorful and vibrant piece, but certain aspects, such as the eye details and the crumbs left between the segments, detracted from the overall quality of the work. This experience taught me the importance of precision and attention to detail in art. Moving forward, I applied these lessons to the next unit, which focused on cultural textiles. In this unit, I paid close attention to how small details can significantly influence the overall impact of an artwork. My final piece in this unit did not have any noticeable setbacks, and the design was meticulously executed. I was particularly proud of this work because I incorporated meaningful symbols from my home culture and accurately represented features of Conga cloth. This progression not only improved my technical skills but also deepened my appreciation for the cultural significance of art.
Passion Project
In our Passion Project, Jayden (my partner) and I have been working on creating a documentary about an NBA star. This image captures some of the moments where we were recording videos and gathering footage for our project. Over the past month, we have dedicated a significant amount of time to this endeavor, and I believe our progress has been very positive. We have successfully completed all the recording phases, and now our focus has shifted to editing the footage to bring the documentary together. Given how much we’ve accomplished so far, I would consider this month to be quite successful, and I’m excited to see the final product take shape.
