Woop goal reflection

My woop goal that I made was to be better at solving conflicts with my brother as I felt that we were having too many conflicts and not resolving them.

Over the time that I had this wish I made progress towards the goal by agitating my brother less and making better attempts to resolve our conflicts. I think that I didn’t achieve my goal but I made steps towards achieving it and would achieve it if I were given more time.

I chose this wish because I want to strengthen my relationship with my brother and become better friends.

Some challenges that I faced included the fact that Jesper usually is quick to anger and angers for inexplicable reasons.

I took steps to achieve my goal by being more friendly to him and making more efforts at resolving our conflicts.

Mental Health Unit Reflection

I used to think that most mental health disorders weren’t that serious but I still knew they were a problem, however now I understand just how big of a problem it is and how much people go through with these disorders.

I also used to believed in certain stereotypes before but now that we have finished this unit I see the flaws with the stereotypes and I see the truth about these mental disorders.

Before I didn’t understand the full impacts tech had on the human brain, but after this unit I learned much helpful information about the impact of tech on the human brain and its connections to mental health.

I also learned about body image and how that can impact people’s mental health and cause them to develop mental health disorders such as eating disorder which is very serious and way more serious then I originally thought as it can cause bad habits, harm to body, and even death in extreme cases.

We learned about behavioral psychology and how the brain reacts to things. At first I thought that it couldn’t be very impactful, but then I realized that it could be a lot more impactful then I thought and it can be very powerful and convince people to do things.

Overall I learned a lot during this unit about the brain and mental health and this information is important in real life because lots of people have these mental health disorders and it is important to understand what they are dealing with and be able to help them out.

Health app review

It is easy to use as the only thing you have to do is type in a task and if you want to, set a due date, you can even add subtasks in the task and notes on the task.

There are no complications that I have had with the app and it works well.

The basic features include the due date and notes for the task as well as lists. Some more advanced features include giving tasks to other people and tags for the tasks as well as other useful features.

It helps me organize all of my work and remember to do things as it is very helpful with remembering things.

It helps me develop a healthy habit for checking what work I have to do and helping me organize and avoid my usual procrastination.

This app could improve brain health as it could help people learn to organize better and stop using apps that are harmful to the brain.

It uses humane design to help people with remembering everything they need to do and doesn’t try to keep you coming back and it tries to get you to do work and avoid social media which has bad effects on your brain.

It does add value as it can help the user organize all of the things they need to do and makes it much easier to remember things.

A long-term impact is better organization and a better person with more organizational skills and the user could possibly have a better memory.

Health Unit 1 Reflection

I have learned a lot about the psychology of stress during this unit and I have learned that the prefrontal cortex Controls logical decisions and the amygdala controls the emotions and can trigger the FFF response which is designed to help us when we are in danger but can activate at not dangerous moments when we need our logical thinking the most. I learned that the amygdala develops before the prefrontal cortex so it is used more in the teen years. I learned that the amygdala produces cortisol which causes distress which is normally meant to save us in life or death situations but it doesn’t if we aren’t in a life or death situation it causes you to do one F such as flight even if it isn’t beneficial in that situation. I learned that we can combat this by recognising when we are stressed so we can prevent the FFF response from happening and making the situation worse. We can also do activities to reduce stress like mindful breathing which is also good for combating stress.

Welcome to Your New Portfolio!

Why have a digital portfolio at SAS?

Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work you’ve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS.  When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:

  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
  • Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram
