Changllenges

I’m still working towards  being able to effectively  demonstrate the experiment, innovate and takes risks to pursue ideas by using clear artworks that make observers easily understand the emotion it’s giving and meanings that  emerge in the process of art-making without  significant theme and subject. I’m still working towards  being able to effectively show how a person’s personal choices can be impacted by culture and  environment using the art that I created  without not detail explanation.

The Journey of Art- Moving Forward when Facing Challenges

The growth in clay

I believe I improved a lot since working with clay was an experience that blended challenge and reward. Initially, I felt intimidated by the medium, but once I began to shape the clay, I discovered its tactile qualities and the meditative aspect of the process. While I encountered moments of frustration such as having to stay after school because of my huge artwork and when a part didn’t turn out as expected, these challenges taught me to remain patient and develop problem-solving skills. Ultimately, engaging with clay deepened my understanding of three-dimensional art and ignited a newfound appreciation for the craftsmanship involved in creating both functional and decorative pieces. To conclude, I really grew a lot in this area, including learning how to deal with art medias that more complicated than just paints, but I believe there’s a lot more about clay and I have more areas to grow and become better.

Understanding Teen Mental Health

Media plays a significant role in shaping perceptions of mental health among teens. Social media platforms often portray idealized versions of life, which can lead to feelings of inadequacy and anxiety. Conversely, positive representations of mental health discussions can encourage openness and reduce feelings of isolation. It’s crucial to promote media literacy among teens to help them critically evaluate the content they consume.

Mental health stigma exists due to a lack of understanding and awareness. Many people associate mental health issues with weakness or failure, leading to discrimination and isolation for those affected. To reduce stigma, we can initiate open conversations about mental health in schools and communities, promote accurate information, and encourage individuals to share their stories. Education is key to fostering empathy and understanding.

Throughout my exploration of teen mental health, I learned about various conditions such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Understanding these conditions is essential for fostering empathy and support within peer groups. It’s important for teens to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health issues, as well as the availability of resources like counseling and support groups. Promoting mental health awareness is crucial for creating an environment where teens feel safe to discuss their struggles and seek help.

Phone policy reflection

According to https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2024/06/12/72-percent-of-us-high-school-teachers-say-cellphone-distraction-is-a-major-problem-in-the-classroom/ . High school teachers are especially likely to see cellphones as problematic. About seven-in-ten (72%) say that students being distracted by cellphones is a major problem in their classroom, compared with 33% of middle school teachers and 6% of elementary school teachers.

The data suggests that cellphones are significant distractions, especially in high school. This supports the argument that phones can impede learning and focus and teachers may find it challenging to maintain control and keep students engaged when phones are present, which can lead to disruptions.

I believe that the increased cell phone access will create troubles in my social-emotional health and relationships such as after talking on the internet the whole time I might felt hard to talk to other people in the reality while because talking on the internet, there’s less chances I will know new people which will decrease my relation ship area and I might loss the ability to talk and collaborate with other people that might be very different to me.

Providing lockers or pouches for me to store my phones during class can prevent them from being a distraction.

We don’t have a choice on whether we use smartphones. The choice is how we use them.

Ration Racing Reflection

  1. We used equivalent ratios, calculating ratios and using ratio rates to calculate speed.
  2. We would choose to check our unit and calculation correct.
  3. We used second per meter instead of meter per second. It os really important because the calculation depends on it.

Defend the clown

I did well on interpreting graphs and using it on to the real world problem. I also did well on showing the title and the claim clearly. I have to work on using the space smarter.

Welcome to Your New Portfolio!

Why have a digital portfolio at SAS?

Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work you’ve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS.  When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:

  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
  • Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram
