WOOP Goal #2 Portfolio Reflection

Shown above is my second WOOP goal of this semester. The primary objective of this WOOP goal was on the Healthy Relationships section of our Wellness Compass. The specific statement I chose was “My friends and those who know me well would say that I am a good and trusted friend.”

I chose this statement because I wanted to let my friends be more comfortable when around me, and sort of make them feel comfortable opening up to me and trusting me with things. This was because I wanted to help my friends if they were going through some hard times and if they don’t have anybody to talk to, I wished that I could be that person that they can go to.

The steps that I took to achieve this was basically just having more conversations with my friends. Some of them would be really light conversations and about basically anything, but sometimes we would get into deeper conversations and talk about some important aspects of life. Reflecting back, I think I was able to achieve the wish that I had in mind as I was able to hold the deep conversations that I was thinking of and I also think my friends were able to open up to me more.

Student Led Conference

Introduction

The purpose of my conference is to… guide you through my achievements of the school year and my goals in the future.

I’d like to share:

  • What I’ve done and what I still want to achieve
  • Some areas of growth, struggles, and some of my work
  • My goals and how I plan to achieve them

My Vision Board

Some of the things included on my vision board are:

  • My hobbies
  • My goals
  • Achievements I’m proud of
  • My word for 2025

These are important because: If I achieve these goals, it well help me manage my work and time much better, and also help me improve my skills in either playing an instrument or a sport.

My Goals Are:

  1. Improve my time management, complete assignments earlier, if not, directly on time.
  2. Be more productive, stronger focus, complete or cut amount of work time to 2.30 hours per day
  3. Always aim for getting above a meeting or exceedings for my school assignments.

Transdisciplinary Transfer Goal (TTG)

The TTG I chose to reflect upon throughout the year is critical thinker.

They were all very interactive and fun to participate in.

Closing

Thank you for listening to my progress towards my goals over the last year. Do you have any questions?

Encore Artifact – French

In our French class, I wrote two letters from a French soldier to a family member during World War I or II.

In the first letter, the soldier described life in the trenches, expressing his struggles and longing for home. He aimed to convey both his challenges and determination to persevere.

In the second letter, the family member replied with encouragement, sharing updates about family and the community’s resilience. This highlighted their strong bond and the support that comes from family during tough times.

This project deepened my understanding of the personal impact of war while allowing me to practice my French writing skills.

Design Technology – Encore Artifact

In our design technology class, I created a custom tissue box and reflected on what defined success and failure in the project.

Success for me was achieving a balance between functionality and aesthetics. The colors and patterns I chose complemented my design movement well, and I received positive feedback from classmates, which reinforced this achievement.

Overall, this experience taught me that success and failure are both essential for growth. Celebrating successes is important, but failures offer invaluable lessons that guide future improvements.

Encore – Orchestra Artifact 1 – Chamber Music Performance

This was one of our practice sessions in Orchestra while we were practicing for our Chamber Music performance. I decided to use this artifact because it shows my current playing skills in the year.

Our group spent lots of time practicing to play together without a metronome and sticking with tempo very well at the same time. On the other hand, in Orchestra class, we focused more on playing dynamics, going slower, faster, louder, or quieter, and just moreover following the conductor.

Language Arts Artifact 2

I gave a motivational speech in our language arts class as part of a project to practice my public speaking skills. This was a different experience compared to the written essays I worked on in the first semester.

For the speech, I aimed to inspire my classmates and encourage them to pursue their passions. I shared personal stories and examples to make my message relatable. It was important for me to connect with my audience, so I focused on real-life challenges we all face.

Preparing for the speech helped me build my confidence and improve my speaking abilities. I noticed a big difference in how I approached this project compared to my earlier writing assignments which is why I decided to use this as one of my artifacts.

Math Artifact 2

In semester 2, I worked on a math project that involved predicting the number of rubber bands needed to explode a pumpkin. This project served as a valuable artifact for our math class, focusing on applying mathematical concepts to a fun and practical scenario.

We gathered data on various factors like the pumpkin’s height and diameter, using graphs and statistics to analyze the information. I enjoyed the challenge of creating graphs to visualize the relationships between the variables, which helped us make informed predictions.

This project emphasized the importance of data analysis and mathematical reasoning. I used it to compare my change in math skills since the start of the year, reflecting on how much I’ve improved and what I’ve learned along the way.Share

TTG Artifact 2

In Semester 2, I focused on a personal project where I interviewed my dad about his experiences with migration. This analysis became a powerful way to engage with critical thinking, as it allowed me to explore his story and connect it to broader migration patterns in society.

This project helped me develop skills like empathy and critical questioning. It showed me how personal stories can illuminate complex social issues, making the learning process more meaningful. Through this experience, I learned that critical thinking involves not only analyzing information but also connecting with people and their stories.

Critical Thinker Artifact 1

In Semester 1, I chose the Scientific Method as a key science artifact because it serves as a benchmark for developing critical thinking skills early in the semester. This framework encourages students to observe, hypothesize, experiment, analyze data, and draw conclusions, fostering curiosity and systematic reasoning. By engaging with the Scientific Method, students learn to approach problems analytically and collaboratively, laying a strong foundation for their critical thinking journey throughout the year. This early focus helps them understand the importance of evidence-based reasoning and adaptability in scientific inquiry.
