This is the first art piece I did in art class. I worked in a group with four people and we did a project where we had to define gravity. This was really interesting because it is not the usual kind of art I use to do. I had to use my problem solving skills when the glue couldn’t stick everything together.
This is the installation project I did, which is also one of the biggest project I did. I wanted to represent two different SDG, first the good environment and second the polluted. I worked in a group and we actually incorporated water in it.
This is a big piece of acrylic painting I did. During this year, I found myself really liking to make art pieces with collages and making it really colorful. I expressed my self such as from the aspect of inner thinkings, my interests and even style in artworks.
This is my art piece from the clay unit. I don’t usually do clay projects, so I found this especially hard. It was difficult to connect pieces together, avoiding cracks and just the overall shape. Even though, this wasn’t the same as my plan I still made it work and it turned out fine.
Thank you for attending my conference today. Today I will be talking about my academic performance in class. I would like to first introduce my Advisory teacher, Ms. Neal and this is my mom, and this is my dad.
The purpose of my conference is to inform you about the things I have learned throughout this school year.
Please feel free to ask me questions during the conference. There will also be time at the end to ask questions.
I’d like to share:
What I’ve done and what I still want to achieve
Some areas of growth, struggles, and some of my work
My goals and how I plan to achieve them
——————————————————————————————————
My Vision Board
Some of the things included on my vision board are:
Sports
Passion (Reading, Music, Travel)
Self-Care
These are important because: they play a crucial part of my life. I wouldn’t be able to live happily without those things.
——————————————————————————————————
My Goals Are:
Complete language arts reading and writing passport to exceeding
Focus on my plans in Chinese class (reading, writing, listening, speaking)
Finish as much work as possible in a productive amount of time
Here is evidence of how I was able to start to make progress towards my goals.
——————————————————————————————————
Transdisciplinary Transfer Goal (TTG)
The TTG I chose to reflect upon throughout the year is being a better communicator. I sometimes have problems when I don’t want to communicate with teachers on being afraid of something bad happening. I want to change into a student, where I can actually learn what I got wrong and change for the better. In order to reach this, I want to communicate with my teacher when I have problems on lessons or reflecting on why I got a problem wrong. So in the future, I might come in during lunch, recess, or advisory to have a conversation.

Core Subject: Social Studies 🌏
I will now share my progress in Social Studies class.
Strengths
Researching Information
Areas of Growth
Writing essays related to a specific historic topic
There’s this unit, where we learned about Technology and Daily Life. This is a unit where we mainly focused on writing argumentative essays. I wasn’t really good at it first, but from watching videos and taking notes, I learned a few different ways to make my reasoning stronger.
Improve
Sometimes I have some concerns about tasks in Schoology, and would like to improve my communication skills by communicating it to the teacher and coming up with a solution.
How useful is my science notebook as a learning tool? My science notebook is a well-organized, carefully created artifact of my learning in science class this school year.
I will now share my progress in Language Arts class.
Strengths:
Reading Writing Passport
This shows that my reading and writing journal from the start of the year was pretty solid. I was able to organize my time well and complete everything to at least a meeting. During quarter 3, I started doing it bits by bits, making it way easier to an exceeding.
Areas of Growth:
Public Speaking
This shows my public speaking skills, that still needs some work. At first I was unable to get a meeting and was only 1 point away, but some how got a 2. Eventually I was able to talk to him and improve my grade to 2.5. However, I did a way better job in the final group speaking and was able to successfully get a 3.

PASSION PROJECT: Dribble Pro 🏀
My passion project is to make a prototype of a new a basketball using a new material. I worked with Chloe Cai, and together we made a website including information about Basketball and interviewed a couple of people asking them what materials of basketball they believe is the best. This is a project where we also thought about sustainability and which SDG (Consumption) we can meet.
EnCore Subject: Health🥗
Strengths:
This year in health, we learned about the different parts of the brain that will be activated when doing different types of actions. The False FFF is an activation that causes you to either freeze, flight, or fight. I worked with my partner to explain how the amygdala would be triggered during a beep test. We successfully got a good grade, because we explained in depth.
Growths:
This year in health, we also learned about different mental health problems that teenagers these days are often suffering from. This was quite challenging because there were a lot of information to research about and the rubric only allowed us to paraphrase. Therefore, when our group read of the screen, we had points taken of.
Currently in VMM, we finished a video, which will be shown below. It was interesting, because we get to explore how a musician usually makes music that we hear in the documentaries. (hasn’t been graded)
This is anther project I have been doing with my group members. We covered a song and made it our own style. It was really fun, even though we need to work on our tempo together, combining piano and guitars smoothly.
For this slide, I want to demonstrate an artifact that represents my success in math class.
The story board project, where I successfully got a 4. This is a project where we had to come up with a story ourselves and use both visuals and mathematical reasonings to solve it. My story consisted of the characters Tim-Tom and Flora-Lora (dedicated to Ms. Baldwin), who got into a magic portal and needs the help getting back home. I successfully answered my question by figuring out how long they took to arrive home and the difference. I did this by graphing two discontinuous lines and using math equations. This project was really fun where we had to use critical math thinking to complete it.
For this artifact, I want to demonstrate a part of the art creating process that I find quite challenging. Planning is a crucial part in creating art pieces. However, I find it difficult to transfer detailed thoughts onto a piece of blank paper. Usually, I would just go with the flow and make whatever comes to mind, but writing what I want to make and every detail going on there, forces me to think more thoroughly of what I’m going to make and whether or not I will like it.
Below shows two plans that made my sculptures or painting turn out kind of different from how I envisioned it to be. Firstly, is the clay project. From the other Artifact, you guys should already know that it was meant to be a plate rather than a decor, but it still turned out great. Secondly, is the acrylic painting. I was meant to put a 3D skateboard into the canvas, but decided it was too much.
Plans are only there to guide me. It may not be 100% correct, but is still important to have an overall general idea of where you’re going.
For this artifact, I want to demonstrate a challenge I had to overcome in Social Studies Class. This artifact shows a essay we had to wrote analyzing a certain aspect of WW1. This was challenging because we had to do a lot of research and then add more depth analysis to really show how WW1 had a significant impact on the area each of us chose.
For this assignment, I got a grade of meeting, because i had clear and accurate connections made between events and historical contexts, showing understanding of the topic with application of evidence gathered and at least 3 citations from research. However, in order for me to achieve an exceeding next time, I should be more in depth with my analysis.
How to improve: – Engage with Different Perspectives I should consider perspectives from various stakeholders, such as soldiers, civilians, political leaders, and historians, to enrich my analysis.
For this artifact, I want to demonstrate my growth overtime of how I was able to choose a topic I was interested in and research enough information for me to finally make my final product. I’ll show you some pictures of research, including my source analysis and the final product that I’ve put all together.
I’m really proud of how far I’ve come. As we can see from my source analysis, I chose many different sources and was able to prove that it is credible by using different methods. Lastly, the final product was both appealing to the eye and conveyed the useful information.
For this artifact, I want to demonstrate two art projects I was relatively happy about.
First, the clay project. This was a project filled with both challenges and success. My initial idea was to make a 20cm big plate that I could potentially use as my dinner plate, however I didn’t realize until it came out of the kiln that it would shrink a lot. Therefore, I changed the idea and just made it a decor instead. Even though, the end product was different than what was on the plan, I did a good job solving the problems within a limited time.
Second, the stacking, define gravity project. This was a group project, where each of us had to color and make a 3D shape we liked and stack it together. We had some trouble figuring out how we wanted our final shape to look like and sticking it together. However, lastly, we stayed after school and solved the problem.
Those two projects are artifacts that shows I have developed the skill
Media could influence teen mental health by creating anxiety and increasing the risk of getting depression. Firstly, social media creates stress when a teenage is not constantly updating their status on it. Secondly, social media uses algorithms to capture audience’s eyes and make it highly addictive. If theres a notification that popped up, it’s very likely for them to have the incentive to check it. Lastly, social media contain a lot of explicit information, which as teenagers are curious about. However, this could negatively impact teens because they would compare themselves to influencers who might be faking everything. This would further develop into mental disorders like eating disorder, body shame etc.
Mental health stigma exists and we could reduce it by creating awareness to the community around us. A lot of movies or songs portray mental disorders as something horrible and can’t be cured. Many times we would often see people who are down or having a bad day but just simply ignore them. Through this learning process we can understand that we should not be scared to speak up to someone we trust and express how we are feeling. Everyone has different things going on in their life and it should not be embarrassing to talk about it. This would reduce the risk of teenagers getting exposed to bad environmental factors that could further harm their mental health.
In this unit I have learned multiple things about mental health conditions and understood that it is important for teens to understand them. I used to think that mental disorders can not be treated but through this unit I figured that mental health conditions are usually curable by going to therapy, getting medication etc. In order for someone to get cured, the first step is always seeking professional help. This is why it is important for teens to understand because they will be able to identify if someone around them or themselves are suffering from those symptoms and quickly telling someone they trust. In addition, mental health conditions are usually caused by many environmental factors around a teenagers’ life, which by teaching them about this, they could prevent getting exposed to it as much as possible.
High schoolers develop anxiety by increasing their screen-time and procrastinate while doing their homework. Their social relationship got worse due to cell phones.
I think increased cell phone access next year will definitely cause more distractions. Since there will be no limits, whenever I feel like using it I could use it freely. During free period, it could cause procrastination, because once I reach for my phone it’s hard to stop. I believe this because my brother is a high school student and observing from his actions it is likely that mine will be the same. My parents would also likely agree. Looking at how we do our homework it probably will be the same at school.
I would treat the policies the same as in middle school. Once I get to school, I will shut my phone off and keep it in my backpack until I arrive at home. This would make sure I have enough face-to-face communication at school and productively doing my homework during extended learning.
Social media rose around the same time, YouTube launched in 2005, Instagram launched in 2010 and TikTok launched in 2016. This shows such a big correlation of teenagers these days getting impacted by using social media on phones leading to anxiety.
I used all kinds of calculation. One of them is the calculation for rates. I divided the distance by time to get the rate for my race.
2. If you could re-do this project, what changes would you make during your timed trials to help your prediction for the final race?
I would take multiple tries and not just one, so the time can be more accurate.
3.What units of measure did you use during your timed trials? How important were units in your process? What happened to groups that didn’t include units on their paper?
The units I used during timed trials is second per meter. Unit is very important, because you can divide meter by time but write the unit as second per meter. When people didn’t write unit, they got the calculation wrong and didn’t get the measurement right.
