Specials: 💬

I will now share my progress in all of my specials classes (encore classes) this year.

P.E:

What feedback would you give to yourself about your performance in PE class? What aspect of your performance would you like to work on?

A piece of feedback I would give to myself about my performance in PE class is to possibly be more active during the class activities. That is an aspect that I would like to work on on-going.

Can you describe a time when you worked well with your peers in a team activity? What made that experience successful?

A time when I worked well my peer in a team activity was during the pickle ball unit. What made the experience successful was that both my partner, and I tried our best, even if it was challenging at first.

Explain how you help your team achieve success when playing games in PE class.

I help my team achieve success when playing games in PE by participating, and cheering on my team when necessary.

What challenges did you face during PE classes? How did you overcome them?

A challenge that I faced during PE class was soccer, since I wasn’t as comfortable with passing the ball. I overcame this challenge by trying my best each class, and to work with peers.

What new skills or techniques have you learned this semester? Which skills do you feel most confident about? What skill do you want to work on next?

Some new skills that I have learned this semester is pickle ball serving strategies, volleyball serving, and many more.

Band:

What are your strengths as a musician? What evidence do you have?

Some strengths as a musician is that I have clear tone, and I come prepared with all of my materials.

What are some skills you have developed on your instrument this year? What evidence do you have?

Some skills that I developed on my instrument this year is to go lower down on the lower register.

What are some challenges you still have on your instrument or in band?

Some challenges that I still have on my instrument is that I struggle with extending my range to the upper register, and so as having clear timing.

What is your practice routine? What strategies will you use to practice more, to address your current challenges? Please explain.

I personally don’t exactly have a practice routine, since I only practice during class time. But some strategies that I will try to use to practice more is to try practicing at least once a week outside of school.

What specific goals would you like to set for yourself on your instrument this semester?

A goal for this semester is to try my best to extend my range to the upper register, and as well as try to to turn in as many playing assignments as possible.

G8 Mental Health Unit Reflection

HEALTH 8E2

1. How media could influence teen mental health could be in both positive, and negative ways. Some of which include positive aspects, such as maintaining social bonds (with relationships around the world), and so as to generally stay organized, and up to date. As for negative aspects, they could include cyberbullying (within social media platforms), and a problematic distraction for a variety of age groups.

2. Why I think mental health stigma exists is because it often could have an impact of providing misleading social media representations of several mental health disorders, and more. We could reduce stigma by gaining support from trustees, from educating yourself, and so as others around you, with sharing experiences.

3. What I have learned about mental health conditions are that they could certainly be extremely harmful, and make a significant impact on one’s daily life. It is important for teens to understand them because it could create a healthy development process, whereas they would recognize that positive mental health is when it would positively help develop their emotional skills, social skills, behavior management, and many more useful daily life skills as teens grow older.

The impact of cell phones on teen social-emotional health and relationships.

  1. Based on our evidence, and claim, it revealed that there are several positive impacts of cell phones on teen social-emotional health and relationships. Such as providing precise learning resources, communication attractions within online apps, coping from stress and anxiety, and much more.
  2. My opinion about how increased cell phone access might impact my social-emotional health and relationships next year is that it could cause distractions, but so as provide precise learning resources to support my learning. I believe this would happen next year because I usually do get distracted by my cell phone at home, but I occasionally do use it as a resource to help support my learning, and now that I will have an increased access to my cell phone in high school, I would most likely use it for the same purposes. I think my parents would agree with this reasoning, because from my experience, my parents do find me “sort of addicted” to my cell phone.
  3. The strategies that I would use to cope to ensure that my cell phone does not decrease the quality of my emotional health and relationships at school next year could be to try to minimize how long I stay on my cell phone per day.

Quotes:

  1. “Education Week” states that parents want their kids to be able to have access to call them, if there is an emergency, and could be used as a tool for learning purposes. This serves as a positive social-emotional health concept.
  2. “EdWeek,” states that phones impact high school’s relationships well because it can help for more easy communications for classmates at school, and about school work. This serves as a positive social-emotional health concept.

Orbiting Earth’s

Astronomy Unit Seasons Question Prompt:

“Why is it Colder in the Winter than in the Summer?”

It is colder in the winter than in the summer because both summer and winter have different temperatures, based on the Earth’s tilted axis, directed or indirected to the sunlight. In different parts of the world, the Sun is directly facing the Earth’s tilted axis, and some are not directly facing the Earth’s tilted axis. These lead to having some parts of the world colder (indirect sunlight), and some parts of the world warmer (direct sunlight). But, the Earth will rotate overtime (roughly every 6 months) and change seasons, so each area of the world will sometime get cold, or warm. If the Earth’s axis was not tilted to an angle, there would not be any seasons. This would result into no summer, winter, spring, or autumn.

Eagle 500

1) What math did you use for this project?

In class, we tried to predict how long it will take our group to complete the race in total. We did that by testing distances of waking pastes for each person, to see how much time it is for them to walk one lap (our prediction amount). We were testing different rates based on different people’s pastes when walking the same distance for each person. We did multiple trials for each person, to make sure we get the right average of how fast the person walks on the same track for the most accurate prediction time for each person, and the whole group’s speed together.

2) If you could re-do this project, what changes would you make during your timed trials to help your prediction for the final race?

In the future, we should consider the third person (me) to not walk too slow, when the first and second person walked too quickly in the final race, because that made our group later than the prediction time by about 3 minutes. We should also consider  and think that the race track would be longer when doing the trials, because we all walked very less for the timed prediction trials, and a race track would not be so short as we imagined it to be.

3) What units of measure did you use during your timed trials? How important were units in your process? What happened to groups that didn’t include units on their paper?

We used time, distance, seconds, minutes, meters, and speed (included in rate) for our units of measurements. These measurements are important during the process, because it helps us keep track of our trials, and get to “show” a more clear prediction and chart. The groups that didn’t include units on their paper were probably confused and didn’t really have a clear chart of the data they jotted down, which made it harder for them to calculate the prediction, and the final race score.

PENGPPY

1) In science class, we learned that the African Penguins are an endangered species. African Penguins are endangered because people took away their “guanos” (“guanos” definition: “African Penguin poop”), which help protect and keep the African Penguins cool from the sun. More and more people keep taking away African Penguins guanos for their crops, but on the other hand, African Penguins have a higher chance to go to extinction.

2) In science class, we are creating insulators made out of “good” insulators by-themselves and “bad” insulators by-themselves. We tested each material individually under a light for 30 minutes with a piece of ice. That determined which material was the best insulator. Next, we gathered the best materials, and built miniature nests to protect the African Penguins from the heat (testing with ice to determine the best nest/insulator). By doing this project, it can help protect and increase African Penguins population.

3) We had to understand the “crosscutting concepts” and understand which materials were the best insulator in order to build the best miniature nest/insulator for the African Penguins.

Quick, Quick, Quick, Draw!

Hi, today I am going to share a few drawings from my art class. I am learning the main points: gestures in drawings, and contour drawings. My art teacher showed me lots of pictures, and I tried my best to “copy draw” them down using the main points of drawing that my teacher has taught me. I only got less that 10 minutes to “copy draw” the pictures, and I used charcoal and pencil for the drawings. I didn’t add much details, but did get the main shape(s), and rough sketch(s) down.

⬇️ Below this text, are a few drawings, I hand drew (rough sketch) in less that 10 minutes with charcoal and pencil. ⬇️

Sing Song Sing

Hello! Today, I’m going to share one of my top hobbies! As you may probably see from the picture or the title of this post, one of my top hobbies are to sing!

I enjoy singing because I learned that singing could help me calm down, and release all the stress that is upon me. I also really enjoy opening my mouth nice and wide, to express myself and hear the beautiful sounds that just my mouth could express and sing.

I sing everywhere I go. I love to sing. I think it sounds peaceful, nice, and calming at the same time. And, sometimes, I would also dance when I sing! That brings us to another hobby of mine! That is dancing!

⬇️ Below, it is a picture of a microphone, and someone singing into it. The photo credits site is below as well (not my photo!) Feel free to use the photo in your posts too! Have a great day, goodbye! ⬇️

Endangered Species Project – Central African Forest Elephants

I am very proud of this “Endangered Species Project” because I worked hard on it for a few days, and I kept going back and fourth to find important information to add into my project, and correct the mistakes throughout the project.

For my project, I chose the species, “Central African Forest Elephants” because I like the animal, “Elephants.”

I researched and took time and effort into this project. I was pretty stressed throughout the process, but when I completed the project, I was so exited, happy, and proud of my work that I took time and effort on.
