Reflection creative thinker
The creative thinker TTG taught me to think in different ways and to problem solve, for example, one of the tasks which I completed required me to form a short video, the creative freedom allocated to us in these activities are unparalleled, allowing for me to truly do practically whatever I wanted, I ended up screen recording a video of me playing chess and the narrating it, this allowed me to do something I enjoyed while being able to excuse it as a task, another example is the task which required me to make a song to wake myself up with, I s1mply chose to bass boost my favorite song, luther by Kendrick lamar to 300 percent and to play it on repeat when I woke up, this is what the founding fathers intended. Thinking of and brainstorming these activities shows me that there are an infinite amount of possibilities which we should be eager to explore, everything is different, fun and exciting to discover and explore, while creatively thinking.
Reflection Critical thinker
The critical thinker TTG made me really, well think, it made me realize that even though there might not be an instantaneously obvious solution, that with a bit, or a lot of thought, that solutions will become clear and actually quite obvious. For example one of the tasks are to rank essential items that you would want in a scenario in which you were stranded in a jungle, at first the amount of items kind of overwhelmed me, but as I just took a second to comprehend and think about each item the order came naturally to me. Another task was to draw obscure solutions, which I found quite enjoyable as it afforded me a good amount of creative freedom, which I used to create obscurity, which I find quite interesting. I also played Gomuku or Nim, in the true spirit of critically thinking, the strategy which I developed ended up being asking my opponent to lose to me, for the sake of time and intentionally distracting them.
Resilience Reflection
I enjoyed the Resilience tasks, the resilience tasks are rich in variety, completing these different tasks made me realize that sometimes the things you don’t want to do or the things which you have no idea how to do might end up being quite enjoyable once you do them. For example one of the resilience tasks was to go on a 15 minute walk, quite simple but in execution it made me realize how under appreciated walks, nature and being in a calm environment was. Another task was to practice a new skill, I decided to try to do some different forms of pushups, and eventually, after hard work I was able to perform each form, the feeling of accomplishment which I gained from this was unparalleled to the feeling of failure I had after each failed attempt, which also taught me that failure was just a part of life, and that it was in fact necessary.
Collaboration
Reflection on my fitness routine, one of the tasks I chose to complete for my collaboration TTG was to create and follow a fitness routine, doing this helped me and taught me a lot. Before I had a routine I would just do whatever I felt like doing for a workout, so on a day where I was more tired than usual I would workout less. But now I have a new factor of consistency in my workouts which I feel has helped me get stronger and has helped with my discipline.
Communication
One of the tasks which I chose to complete for my communication TTG was to make a presentation on something I enjoyed, I chose to create a presentation on the different stages of a chess game, it was what I enjoyed. I learned to appreciate how much I improved in chess and I started enjoying chess more. I learned to create things for the sake of your own, not for others. Further more I learned about Clickbait headlines for another task. I learned that people often click and view the articles with more extravagant headlines and with more engaging ones. Which I originally thought was undermining journalistic values, but I accepted that this was simply a output of competition.
Big Project
I worked on gathering the materials and on the early stages of building my car, my team-mate helped create a model for the laser cutter in the maker space to carve out a more stable frame for our car.
Extracurricular
I play video games outside of school, I’m trying to become a professional player, its taught me hard work, dedication and acceptance of things that do not go my way. I could spend hours training and still lose to a lucky player with nowhere near as much skill as me.
